On the Effect of Human Resources on Tourist Infrastructure: New Ideas on Heteroscedastic Modeling Using Regression Quantiles

Tourism represents an important sector of the economy in many countries around the world. In this work, we are interested in the effect of the Human Resources and Labor Market pillar of the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index on tourist service infrastructure across 141 countries of the world. A regression analysis requires to handle heteroscedasticity in these data, which is not an uncommon situation in various available human capital studies. Our first task is focused on testing significance of individual variables in the model. It is illustrated here that significance tests are influenced by heteroscedasticity, which remains true also for tests for regression quantiles or robust regression estimators, resistant to a possible contamination of data by outliers. Only if a suitable model is considered, which takes heteroscedasticity into account, the effect of the Human Resources and Labor Market pillar turns out to be significant. Further, we propose and present a new diagnostic tool denoted as aquintile plot, allowing to interpret immediately the heteroscedastic structure of the linear regression model for possibly contaminated data.

The complex development of accompanying infrastructure of tourism in Hlubocko area

This thesis deals with the comprehensive development of accompanying infrastructure for sports and recreational activities. The aim is to analyze the supply and demand of tourism in Hlubocko area. An increased emphasis is placed on analysis accompanying infrastructure for leisure time activities. At the end of this work are presented a suggestions and recommendations on modernization of accompanying infrastructure to improve comfort, safety and technical standard of sports and recreational facilities in the investigated area. Furthermore is presented design of ideal tourism product with regard to the requirements and wishes of visitors, based on research and structured interviews.

Analysis of the use and implementation of existing infrastructure support rural tourism in the example of measures III.1.3 Rural Development Programme of the Czech Republic

The aim of the thesis is to identify and analyze the utilization and implementation of the existing infrastructure support for rural tourism in the Czech Republic on the example of Rural Development Program of the CR, actions III.1.3. The theoretical part deals with the definition of tourism infrastructure, tourism as one of the factors of regional development and the potential to promote tourism with a focus on its infrastructure. The practical part is focused on promoting tourism within the Rural Development Program of the CR. At the micro level there are assessed subsidies for the period 2007-2010. The source for analyzing is the data obtained from publicly available databases of the State Agricultural Intervention Fund and interviews with representatives of the regional offices of the intermediate body (SAIF). In this thesis descriptive, comparative and analytical methods are used. The character of the gained data is both primary and secondary. The main contribution of this work, based on the findings, is evaluation of the use of subsidies to support the tourism infrastructure within the Rural Development Programme of the CR - Encouragement of touristic activities during the 1st half of the current programming period.

Sledování vlivu procesů vyvolaných geoturismem na životní prostředí v Českém ráji s návrhem opatření k eliminaci negativních dopadů

Základním cílem studie je na území CHKO Český ráj zkoumat územní rozdíly v zátěžích cestovním ruchem a jejich diferencované dopady na přírodní prostředí za účelem navrhnout konkrétní opatření pro šetrný rozvoj, případně omezení geoturismu. V roce 2007 byla provedena rešerše relevantních podkladů a zahájena analýza území a jeho předpokladů pro cestovní ruch, konkrétně bylo započato mapování turistických atraktivit a turistické infrastruktury. Byl zpracován jejich základní přehled, který bude v průběhu dalšího řešení upřesňován a doplňován. Ve studii jsou podrobněji popsány všechny terénní monitoringy, které budou zahájeny v příštím roce.

Tourism as a development factor in Decin region

The aim of thesis is to identify factors for future tourism development in Decin region. The theoretical part deals with general definition of tourism its position in the national economy and also outlines the importance of tourism for the regional and microregional development in Czech Republic. The practical part is focused on tourism in Decin region. Firstly, the basic and supporting infrastructure of tourism is defined by description, the areas of possible further development of the region are identified and the economic impact of tourism on the selected area is hypothesized. Consequently, the range of accommodation facilities and services for tourists in Decin region are evaluated by the questionnaire survey. The representative sample of 13 facilities, ie 10% of total, is randomly selected of the 131 providers of accommodation services. The structure of facilities and the quality of its services is identified by the synthesis of the data. In conclusion, the results may help us to determinate the temporary situation in accommodation services, to indentify the main barriers of the tourist development and to suggest possible improvements and funding for further tourism development in Decin region.

The analysis of tourism in the selected city (Třebíč)

The bachelor thesis deals with the issues of tourism development in the selected city -- Třebíč. The goal of this thesis is to assess the current level of tourism in the city, to analyze its potential for tourism development, the tourism infrastructure, the visit rate and to draw conclusions and propose measures. The first section deals with theoretical definition of basic concepts of tourism related to its operation in the city. The second section provides a brief description of resolved destination. The analysis of tourism in Třebíč is carried out within the third section of this thesis and it analyzes the potential for tourism development, the tourism infrastructure and the supply of tourism products of the city. The findings are summarized in form of a SWOT analysis. The fourth section analyzes the visit rate of attractions, information centers and accommodation facilities in the city. The profile of a visitor of Třebíč was made by using the project of CzechTourism "Monitoring of visitors in tourist regions of the Czech republic". In conclusion, proposals to attract new visitors and raise awareness of Třebíč as an attractive and competitive tourist destination are presented.
